If finding a home is your priority, Southwark's HomeSearch centre is the place to go to help you find a home that's right for you and your family. Our specially trained HomeSearch team will work closely with you to explore all of your options and will support you in finding and keeping a safe, suitable, stable home.

Southwark has a severe shortage of local authority homes to rent. There are far more people who want places to live than there are places available. This means that most people who apply to be housed will be unsuccessful or face a long wait. This is especially true for certain types of property such as ground floor, houses with gardens or larger properties.

What we can do for you

At the HomeSearch centre we can offer advice and information to help you decide your best options for finding or keeping a suitable home. This may involve for example

registering for our waiting list or transfer list
mutual exchange and other schemes
advice about renting privately
advice about purchasing a home or shared ownership
