Garages

The council owns garages throughout the borough, on private streets and in housing estates. We rent these to tenants, leaseholders and private individuals in order of priority, as follows:

a) Tenants or leaseholders living on the estate where the garage for rent is, who do not already have a council garage
b) Tenants or leaseholders living nearby who require a first garage
c) Tenants or leaseholders on an estate who need a second garage
d) Tenants or leaseholders living nearby who need a second garage
e) Any other council tenant or leaseholder
f)  Any other person living in the borough
g) Any other person working in the borough

Note: In exceptional circumstances we will allocate out of priority and date order, e.g. for persons in receipt of mobility/disability allowances.

In addition to this we will only rent you a garage if:

• You, or a member of your family living with you, own or rent a private vehicle (we will need proof of this when you apply).
  
• You are not in arrears with your rent.
