Your Council Tax bill could be reduced if you are entitled to either Council Tax Benefit or Second Adult Rebate

Council Tax benefit (CTB)

Council Tax benefit could help pay towards some or all of your Council Tax bill if you are on a low income, even if you own your own home.

It is based on

• The amount of Council Tax
  
• The income, savings of yourself and those living in your household
  
• Personal circumstances of yourself and those living in your household

Second adult rebate (2AR)

Second Adult Rebate (2AR) can also help to reduce your Council Tax. It is based on the amount of Council Tax and the income and savings of the 'second adults' in your household. It is not based on your income and circumstances.

If you qualify for both Council Tax Benefit and 2nd Adult Rebate you will receive which ever is higher.
