No More Reminders Campaign

No more reminders

'No more reminders' is a major initiative aimed at increasing the amount of council tax collected for both the current year and any arrears. This is important because council tax is vital to financing local services for residents.

It is essential that council tax payers

  • Make payments on time
  • Contact us immediately if they have arrears, in order to make an arrangement
  • Consider making a claim for council tax benefit or second adult rebate
  • Claim any relevant discounts and exemptions

If you are unable to make payments by the due date, it is essential that you contact the council tax department as soon as possible.

Once contact is made and the situation discussed we can then make an arrangement for the repayment of the outstanding debts. However, if this is not done or the arrangement is not adhered to then we will need to take further steps to recover the money.

This could include one of more of the following steps and is also likely to incur additional costs

  • Passing the debt to bailiffs
  • Contacting the customer's employer to request that the money is deducted from your salary
  • Applying for bankruptcy
  • Applying for a charging order (on your property)

Payments can be made in the following ways

  • By direct debit - please telephone 020 7525 1850, you will need you bank account and sort code
  • By credit or debit card - please telephone 0845 6000 611 or access the Southwark website
  • By swipe card at the Post Office, Payzone or Pay Points
