How Do We Spend It?
In the last three years council taxpayers in Southwark have benefited from some of the smallest increases to their council tax bills in the whole of London, and we've completely frozen council tax this year.
Our vision is to make Southwark a better place to live, learn, work and have fun. Over the last year we have been working to make this happen by targeting resources at our five key priorities
- cutting crime and fear of crime
- making Southwark cleaner and greener
- improving the health of the borough
- raising standards in schools
- tackling poverty.
Spending on education makes up two fifths of the council's revenue budget and there are key government expectations about how we spend our money in this area.
