Bereavement Service Our Bereavement Service offers help and advice with funeral procedures in our cemeteries and crematorium. We aim to ensure that people who have died in Southwark can be buried or cremated here and that all funerals are organised and conducted in a dignified way.

Burial and cremation recordsWe keep records of all burials and cremations carried out in Southwark at our Bereavement Service offices. Anyone can come and view the records free of charge, but please contact us to book an appointment first. If you're not able to come to our offices, our staff can search the records on your behalf. You can request this service by writing to us at the address below and enclosing the full name of the person you're researching and the date that they died. Please also remember to include your own contact details so we can let you know if our search is successful. Searching the records can be time-consuming for our staff so there is a charge of £11 for each year or person that we look up.

Our service standards
We are committed to providing an excellent service. We will
- Arrange for a burial or cremation within a week of you asking us to
- Help you make your own arrangements for funerals
- Deal with a request within five working days
- Have the cemeteries, crematorium and garden of remembrance open every day of the year
- Help elderly or disabled people visit a grave
- Hold a memorial service on the last Sunday of June every year
