Refugee and Asylum Seeker Action Plan

Southwark has been a place of settlement for refugees and asylum seekers for over 400 years. From Huguenots, Jewish and Irish refugees in previous centuries, to more recent arrivals from countries such as Afghanistan, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Southwark Council has produced an action plan which identifies the needs of asylum seekers and refugee communities in the London Borough of Southwark. The action plan also outlines council activities designed to improve access, support integration and ensure equality of opportunity for asylum seekers and refugees.
