Current Issues

In this section you will find recent news stories and major issues.

Hate crime

No one should be harassed, abused or attacked because of who they are or what they believe. Racial, homophobic behaviour, domestic and sexual violence are hate crimes.

For information on reporting hate crime or accessing support visit Community Safety.

Discrimination

No one should have to put up with discrimination. Southwark's equality scheme has been written to ensure that the council meets its statutory duties to eliminate discrimination. If you think you have been discriminated against, you should contact the relevant service manager and follow the council's complains procedure.

For assistance

If you have a complaint specifically about the council's performance, please follow our complaints process.

If you want assistance with lodging a complaint or you need advice specific to your circumstances, our advice services may be able to help.

You may also want to read Southwark's employment policies on equality and discrimination.
