Have your say

have your say speech bubblesImproving your services and the way the council works for you is important to us. We need your help in knowing what can be done to make Southwark even better.

Is there something your area needs? Do you have ideas on how we can improve your services? Or maybe you just have a comment you think needs to be heard.

Whatever it is, we want to hear from you. There are several ways that you can tell us

Council decisions

If you live in Southwark then you have the right to be involved in the council’s decision making. We want you to have a greater say in decisions that affect you as a resident.

You can speak directly to your councillor, as they are there to represent you. If you have a concern then they can act on your behalf and champion your cause. If you live in Southwark then you can also share your views at council assembly.

Community councils

Whether it’s more benches in your local park or a new road sign outside a school, community council’s are there to listen and to act. Find out about community councils in your area.

Southwark has a number of councillors who also act as executive members for the council. Each member is responsible for a different service function within the council. They will listen to any comments you have that is within their remit.

Complaints

We aim to deliver our services to the best of standards at all times. If there is something you are not happy with, please follow our complaints procedure and your comment will be dealt with appropriately.

Consultations

Several reviews and surveys are carried out throughout the year at Southwark Council. These are great opportunities to tell us what you think about a council service, project or strategy that is in place at the moment. Have a look at the consultations that are due to take place soon.

You said, we did

Everyday the council gets suggestions from residents on how we could improve what we do. Often these comments help us change a service or adapt a process to make it more user friendly.

We enjoy listening to your ideas on how we can make Southwark a place where people love to live. We have launched a campaign to show you how we have responded to your ideas. Hopefully it will also persuade you to add any new ideas you might have.

Find out more and read stories of how your suggestions have led to a change in the way we do things.
