Profile of Southwark

A total of sixty three councillors are elected by the residents of Southwark to take decisions on their behalf. They belong to four political parties:

Some of the councillors in Southwark, and elsewhere, have full-time jobs outside of the council. Time spent at meetings, ward surgeries and doing constituency work is over and above their day-jobs and family commitments. Unlike MPs, they do not receive a ‘living wage’.
