The Forward Plan and General Exception Notices

The Local Government Act 2000 requires the council to publish a forward plan containing details of all key decisions to be taken by the executive, individual executive members and chief officers.

It is published monthly below and lists details of what decision is to be taken, who the decision taker is, who to make representations to, and their contact details.

Searching for a decision

You can search for a decision by keying Ctrl F (or Apple F) on your keyboard and inputting a keyword into the box that appears on your screen. This search function is available in the Excel format of the forward plan.

  • February 13 2009
  • March 17 2009
  • April 16 2009
  • May 15 2009

General exception process

Under Southwark Council's constitution, if a proposed key decision does not appear on the published forward plan and a decision is required prior to publishing of the next forward plan, the council is required to publish a general exception notice. 

Where the decision is of an urgent nature, there is also provision in the council's constitution for decisions to be considered under special urgency or urgent implementation (Rule 16 Access to Information Procedure Rules). Special urgency allows the decision to be considered immediately but remains subject to scrutiny consideration. 

Urgent implementation is available in exceptional circumstances where a decision is deemed to be so urgent that it must be considered immediately and is not subject to scrutiny consideration. In all circumstances the chair of overview and scrutiny considers requests of this nature.
