Licensing Committee

Summary of objectives

Until February 7 2005 Southwark's Licensing Committee worked in conjunction with Community Councils. (Community Councils also decided on licensing matters relevant to their areas). Southwark's Licensing Committee decided on granting, renewing, changing or transferring licences. It also decided on licences for street trading and markets, public entertainment, public control and animal control.

On February 7 2005 a single Licensing Committee of 15 councillors and Licensing Sub Committees of three councillors assumed responsibility for all licensing matters, whether created by the Licensing Act 2003 or earlier legislation.

Frequency and location of meetings

The committee and sub committees will meet at Southwark Council Town Hall, Peckham Road, when required. Details of future meetings are available from the contact officer.
