Looking after DulwichCleaner Greener Safer
Every year the council provides funds to help neighbourhoods become cleaner, greener and safer. The ideas from residents range from new lighting, to playgrounds, facilities for young people, or tree planting and landscaping. Further information on the Cleaner, Greener, Safer fund.
Visual audits
Every month a visual audit takes place. These are walkabouts looking at problems in the environment such as graffiti, fly tipping, abandoned cars and damaged trees. Findings are passed on to the relevant council departments.
Audits usually take place on the last Wednesday of each month and start at 10am, finishing by 12pm. View the Dulwich visual audit schedule (Word 28kb) for 2008. To take part in an audit contact Katherine Pitt on 020 7525 6433.
Safer Neighbourhood police teams
There are three Safer Neighbourhoods police teams in Dulwich in addition to other policing teams. Each team is made up of six police and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). Their aim is to find out what affects your daily life and feelings of security and help find lasting solutions to these problems.
Teams are permanent and will not be redeployed to other areas except in extreme catastrophic or terrorist related events.
See the Safer Neighbourhoods website for further information.
Please note – in an emergency always call 999.

Dulwich Community Wardens
Community Wardens are a visible and reassuring presence, helping to reduce crime and anti social behaviour. Wardens work with the community and help police keep an eye on people subject to an acceptable behaviour contract or an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).
Wardens report graffiti, fly tipping, abandoned vehicles and fly posting to the council’s cleansing team. They also issue fixed penalty notices for littering and dog fouling offenses and regularly hold enforcement days on key roads such as Lordship Lane.
They work with schools and organise community and sporting events and support vulnerable members of the community, such as rough sleepers and isolated residents.
You can contact the Dulwich Wardens on 020 7525 0051 or 020 7525 0036.
