Shakespeare comes to Southwark
The Shakespeare's Globe presents The Winter's Tale at Dulwich Parck from September 2 to 7
After last year's production of Romeo and Juliet, the world renowned Shakespeare's Globe arrives at the beautiful Dulwich Park, breathing life into this magical story of jealousy, love and redemption. Part family drama, part fairytale, The Winter’s Tale is the perfect play for a summer’s evening.
Convincing himself of his wife's infidelity, Leontes, King of Sicilia, is driven into a jealous rage. Unmoved by the entreaties of his queen and a proclamation from the Oracle of Apollo, the King tears his family apart.
The disastrous consequences of Leontes’ actions reverberate across generations and national borders. Only his daughter, Perdita, left for dead in the wilds of Bohemia in her infancy, survives to redeem the tale.
