Sally Gunnell Leads Southwark’s Spring Clean Southwark is taking part in the Capital Clean Up campaign supported by Sally Gunnell, Olympic gold medallist and Jessica Ennis, 2012 Olympic hopeful, which launched last week on the Thames foreshore.
Capital Clean Up is a campaign run by Capital Standards, which aims to help improve London’s local environment through co-ordinated activities across the capital. It also seeks to raise the profile of all the work that is already being undertaken through London.
The campaign is in its second year and includes special projects delivered by local authorities, as well as through agencies with a cleaner, greener, safer, agenda in the voluntary and community sectors.
Councillor Lisa Rajan, Southwark Council's executive member for environment, said: "Capital Clean Up is a fantastic initiative under which to highlight the great work Southwark already does in environmental education and enforcement."
"We are proud of the progress we have already made through schemes such as StreetLeaders, which aim to educate Southwark's residents and encourage them to work alongside the council to improve the standard of their environment."
She added: "The scale of the projects that have already been planned to take place during the campaign shows the council's continued commitment to improve the environment for the residents and visitors to Southwark."
Southwark is promoting a large number of projects as part of the campaign which are running now, until June 18. If you have a project that you would like to promote through this campaign, or require further information please contact Rehanon Mackenzie.
If you would like to get involved in any of these projects please contact Capital standards.
