Message from Councillor Caroline Pidgeon, Executive member for children’s services and education.

Starting school is an exciting time for you and your child. It is a big step for your child and choosing which school your child should attend is an important decision for you. By selecting a Southwark primary school you can expect to give your child a great start to their schooling in a vibrant
and diverse community.

We want Southwark to be a place where every child and young person can have high expectations and the best opportunities. We already have some of the highest achieving primary schools in the country and a dedicated and talented pool of teachers, committed to helping your child do their very best.

Schools are at the heart of our local communities and are playing an increasing role in the regeneration that we can see happening all over the borough. We have begun a programme of significant investment in work to improve our primary schools, a programme which we hope to
accelerate over the coming years.
