Poetry in Southwark

Poetry PictureSouthwark has inspired generations of writers and poets since the days of Chaucer, Shakespeare and Dickens - and right now the borough is positively slamming!

Poet Laureate Andrew Motion wrote the first line of our epic online community poem and since then Southwark’s residents young and old have taken up the challenge of adding their own voices. Click on the link below to see what they had to say and add your own line to our newest literary landmark.

The annual Write Stuff! festival will take place again in May 2005. Join in this celebration of literature, poetry, dub, rap and all creative uses of the word.
