Civic Trust Awards 2006  
The winners of the 2006 Civic Trust Awards were announced on Thursday March 29 2006 at Lords Cricket Ground in London.
Southwark received three commendations for
- Friendship House
- Bellenden renewal area
- Coopers road estate
Commendations are given to projects that make a valuable contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment.
What are the Civic Trust Awards?
Civic Trust Awards are given to outstanding examples of architecture and environmental design.
The scheme began in 1959 and is one of the largest and most respected award schemes of this type in Europe.
What is aim of the Civic Trust Awards?
The aim is to promote the positive impact that good development can have on quality of life for us all.
Which projects are eligible?
Schemes of all types and sizes can enter. The scheme runs on a two year cycle. The 2006 awards were for projects in the major cities and metropolitan areas.
