Carnival Development

Carnaval del Pueblo parade sets off from in front of Tower Bridge in August 2005In a population as diverse as Southwark's, carnival offers people the chance to celebrate, experience and join in with many different carnival styles from all over the world.

Carnival is important to so many of Southwark’s communities and they are already taking to the streets, celebrating what is fundamental to the culture of their communities.

We are working to ensure that carnival remains a priority on the cultural agenda in Southwark and London and that talent, creativeness and passion for carnival is nurtured and grown.

Carnival network

We, in partnership with Southwark Arts Forum, are interested in finding out about carnival activity across the borough leading to the possible start of a carnival network, where you can meet and share information and experiences.

So if you are involved in carnival or processional work, whether you are an artist, arts organisation, school or community group we would like to hear from you. Please send us your contact details and a brief description of how you are involved in carnival work in Southwark. Please email your details to events@southwark.gov.uk.

Your contact details and information will be shared between Southwark Arts Forum and our culture service but will not be passed elsewhere without your permission.
