Southwark offers an excellent range of holiday schemes and out of school hours’ arts programmes for children and young people in the borough. These recreational activities offer opportunities for creative expression and personal development in a fun, stimulating and safe environment.

This community and education arts facility offers arts workshops for children under five and arts education workshops for school and community groups based on the environment. It also encourages the community to create in the borough's outdoor spaces.

The Blue Elephant works with children aged five to 11, developing drama, script writing, and performance skills while building imagination and self esteem.

Brunel Engine House

The Engine House is a striking piece of 19th Century architecture. The engine house originally contained the steam driven pumps used to keep the Thames Tunnel clear of water. Today it houses an exhibition explaining the birth of modern tunnelling in Rotherhithe and the impact Marc & Isambard Kingdom Brunel had on civil engineering. It offers a range of community programmes including summer play schemes and the annual Thames Tunnel Fancy Fair.
