Scrap Metal

Under the provisions of the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 1964 dealers are required to register with the council. 

You are considered to have a scrap metal business if you

• Live in Southwark and have a a scrap metal store in Southwark
• If you live in Southwark but have a scrap metal store outside of Southwark
• If you don't live in Southwark but you do have a scrap metal business in the borough

The registration certificate lasts three years from it's issue date.

Registration certificates are currently free of charge.

If you are a scrap metal dealer you must renew your registration certificate on, or before, the expiry date of your licence.

Apply for a licence

• To apply for registration, please complete an application for registration (28kb) as a scrap dealer
• When you have sent us your application we will contact you to arrange an inspection of your premises
• Please refer to the conditions of registration (23kb).
