Accidents in the WorkplaceReporting a serious accident or incident in the workplace
Accidents or dangerous incidents that occur in the workplace and fall into one of the following categories must be reported to the National Incident Contact Centre:
- A death or a major injury (e.g. fractures, blindness)
- A 3-day+ injury (i.e. where an employee or self-employed person has not been able to work for over 3 days due to an accident at work)
- Work related diseases
- A dangerous occurrence that could have caused a major injury (e.g. a fire, gas explosion etc.)
