Lift and Hoist Safety Checks

The lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations 1998 require that any lifting equipment carrying persons must be thoroughly examined every six months. Every other type of lifting equipment must be tested at least every 12 months.

The testing must be carried out by a competent person. This will usually be a lift engineer recommended by your building insurers. Records of these thorough examinations should be kept on site and made available to inspecting officers.
