Fairtrade Tea

There are many different ways to help. Next time you have a cup of coffee in Southwark, ask for a Fairtrade brand. If you are buying a chocolate bar, check that there is a Fairtrade logo on the packet.

Sign our petition supporting Fairtrade

Southwark is a Fairtrade borough. However, in order to maintain Fairtrade status we need to show that the people who live, learn, work and visit Southwark support Fairtrade. You can help us by signing The following link opens in a new windowour online petition here now.

Supporting Fairtrade

There are lots of things to do to support, promote and campaign for Fairtrade

  • Use Fairtrade tea and coffee in the workplace. Ask for it to become policy to use Fairtrade products in your organisation
  • Buy Fairtrade - look for the Fairtrade mark in shops and cafes
  • Take a Fairtrade coffee break. Request Fairtrade from your local coffee maker. Fairtrade is now on offer at many high street coffee shops as managers respond to customer demand
  • Lobby your local supermarket, shop or restaurant to stock Fairtrade products. If you don't see Fairtrade products on offer ask why not
  • Encourage your local school to learn about Fairtrade. Buy the products and use the educational materials available
  • Share Fairtrade with your friends and family and buy Fairtrade gifts for them
  • Join the Southwark Fairtrade steering group. We hold regular meetings where we have an informal chat about forthcoming events and how we are progressing towards meeting our goal of becoming a Fairtrade borough
  • Go to Fairtrade events such as tastings, exhibitions, festivals
  • Write to non-Fairtrade companies and ask them to embrace Fairtrade. The company websites are usually a good source of information on the their stance on Fairtrade

Support Fairtrade and organise your own event

Why not organise your own event to spread the message about Fairtrade to friends, family and colleagues? The following link opens in a new windowThe Fairtrade Foundation have lots of ideas and resources to help you do this.
